All SKD teachers have submitted spelling words to the Spelling City site. Students can now get quality practice and testing activities online for their weekly spelling words. Just follow the directions below.
Click on the Spelling City icon at right.
Click on Find a List.
In the white box next to Enter Search Term, type the first and last name of your child's teacher. (Do not use any apostrophes.)
Click on the Search button.
Click on the teacher's name in the bottom left-hand corner.
Click on the correct link to find the weekly spelling words. (Each teacher has a different way of naming the lists.)
Choose Test Me or Play a Game or Handwriting Worksheets.

What is Accelerated Reader (AR)? Accelerated Reader is the reading program St. Katharine Drexel School uses to help motivate students to read and allows students and their parents to easily track student's reading progress.

Tumblebooks Online eBook Service…What are "TumbleBooks"? TumbleBooks are "eBooks" – animated, talking picture books which teach kids the joy of reading in a format they'll love. TumbleBooks are created by adding animation, sound, music and narration to existing picture books in order to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you. Follow this link to access the TumbleBooks Library.
We encourage you to explore this site to find hundreds of books for students to read or listen to. This site has material for preschool through sixth grade. Many of the books have AR tests that students can take at school. Many are chapter books. The Tumblebooks program is also a handy tool if your child forgets his or her book at school, as they can still access their book using the Tumblebooks program.

Applications (Apps) for the iPad
SKD regularly uses iPads in our classrooms to provide an interactive learning experience for our students. For those of you who have iPads or access to an iPad outside of school, we felt it would be useful to provide a list of the iPad Applications (or Apps) that our students are working with at school.
